Paisley Monkey has always been about joy, community, and finding the perfect something for the little ones in your life. What began as a small online shop in 2005 grew into a beloved Lakewood storefront that welcomed families for 15 wonderful years. We've seen children grow from babies to teenagers who still visit us. Being part of those moments has been one of the greatest privileges of our work.
PaisleyMonkey.com launched in October 2005 after a summer spent building our very first online shop. From day one, our goal was simple: offer unique, thoughtful, and delightfully fun products for children and families. Over the years, our online community grew to include customers across the United States and around the world.
We teamed up with local artists Gary and Laura Dumm to give PaisleyMonkey.com a fresh, playful redesign. Their vibrant, comic‑inspired style helped shape the personality of our brand and continues to influence our look today. You can see some of their amazing work at dummart.com.
We opened our first brick‑and‑mortar shop in Lakewood, Ohio—a cozy 350‑square‑foot space packed floor to ceiling with cute, quirky, and colorful finds.
Just a year later, we moved to a larger storefront at 14417 Detroit Avenue. With more room came more possibilities: a play area, a fitting room, and comfy seats for tired shoppers.
We doubled our sales floor by expanding into the space next door, allowing us to offer an even wider range of clothing, toys, and gifts.
Like many small businesses, we temporarily closed our storefront during COVID‑19. Even then, we stayed connected through online shopping, curbside pickup, and local delivery.
After 15 years in our Detroit Avenue home, our lease came to an end. Ongoing water leaks and rising rent made it clear that it was time for a change. Closing our storefront was a difficult decision—one filled with emotion, memories, and deep gratitude for the community that supported us for so long.
For now, Paisley Monkey is online‑only, offering shipping nationwide and local delivery for our neighbors. But this isn't goodbye to having a physical space. We fully intend to find a new storefront where we can welcome you again, watch more little ones grow, and continue being part of the Lakewood community we love so much.
While we search for our next home, we're still here—curating the same joyful, high‑quality products you've come to expect, wrapping gifts with care, and delivering smiles near and far. Thank you for supporting us through every chapter. We can't wait to share the next one with you.
